This specimen was lot 2693 in Goldberg sale 100 (Los Angeles, September 2017), where it sold for $58.75. The catalog description[1] noted, "Great Britain. Piedfort 2 Pounds, 2003. Elizabeth II. Reverse: 50th Anniversary of the Discovery of DNA. Choice Brilliant Proof." The catalog listing, specification and mintages reported below are complicated by the multiple formats of issue: copper-nickel (KM 1037), silver (KM 1037a), silver piedfort (KM P42) and gold (KM 1037b). We have noted here the mintages given in the SCWC altho they do not coincide with Seaby[2].
Recorded mintage: 4,299,000 + 43,513 proofs plus 11,204 proofs in silver plus 1,500 proofs in gold.
Specification: KM-1037: 12 g, bimetallic copper-nickel center in nickel-brass ring, 28.4 mm diameter; KM-1037a: 0.925 fine silver; KM-1037b: 15.98 g, .916 fine gold.
