This specimen was lot 3995 in Goldberg sale 70 (Los Angeles, September 2012), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted, "France. 5 Francs, 1815-I (Limoges). Louis XVIII. First Restoration. Uniformed bust left. Lightly toned with lovely original mint luster. PCGS graded MS-62." This type was struck 1814-15 and many of the 31 known dates are rare. This one is common.

Recorded mintage: 1,738,153 plus 596,076 for Napoleon.

Specification: 37 mm diameter, 25 grams, 0.900 fine silver, .723 troy oz AGW.
