France 1815A 2 francs rev DSLR.jpg

This type was struck during the Hundred Days of 1815 when Napoleon attempted to reestablish his empire in France. This is the only date of the type and the only coin to use this bust of Napoleon. This, combined with the low mintage, makes this an expensive coin. It was demonetized in 1869 but extensively saved as a souvenir.

Specification: 27 mm diameter, 10 grams, 0.900 fine silver, edge lettered DIEU PROTEGE LA FRANCE. Designed by Pierre Joseph Tiolier and Nicolas Pierre Tiolier.

Recorded mintage: 6,777.

Catalog reference: F.256/1, KM 703.
