Künker sale 352, lot 1826

This specimen was lot 1826 in Künker sale 352 (Osnabruck, Germany, September 2021), where it sold for €1,000 (about US$1,392 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"BRANDENBURG-PREUSSEN, PREUSSEN, KÖNIGREICH, Friedrich II. der Große, 1740-1786. 1/2 Friedrichs d'or 1752, A, Berlin. GOLD. Winz. Probierspur am Rand, sehr schön. (Germany, kingdom of Prussia, Frederick II the Great, 1740-86, half frederick d'or of 1752, Berlin mint. Small test mark on edge, very fine.)"

This type was struck 1750-52. Another half frederick d'or (KM 271) was struck in 1752 with a bare bust of the king and an eagle with the trophies of war on the reverse. The halb friedrichs d'or traded for 2½ thalers.
