This specimen was lot 74149 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, September 2024), where it sold for $336. The catalog description[1] noted, "AUSTRIA. Holy Roman Empire. 1/2 Taler, 1624. Vienna Mint. Ferdinand II. PCGS Genuine--Cleaned, AU Details. Despite some minor cleaning, this example remains an enticing representative of the emission." This type was struck 1620-24 with a large ruffed collar. While the print edition of the SCWC shows the correct photo for this type, confusingly, the NGC online guide shows a photo of KM 447. Other half thalers for 1624 include KM 514 (Vienna mint, small collar), KM 447 (archduke Leopold), KM 446 (Graz mint) and KM 513 (St. Polten mint).
