Sincona sale 97, lot 1949

This specimen was lot 1949 in SINCONA Auction 97 (Zürich, May 2025), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted,

"RDR / ÖSTERREICH, Ferdinand II. 1619-1637. Taler 1624, St. Veit. Fast vorzüglich. (Holy Roman Empire, Ferdinand II, 1619-37, About Extremely Fine.)"

The year 1624 is probably the peak year for the variety of Austrian thalers, with the SCWC listing KM 456, KM 517.1, KM 517.2, KM 518, KM 519, KM 520, KM 521, KM 522/Dav-3330A, KM 525.1, KM 526 (shown here), KM 527/Dav-3080, KM 528/Dav-3081, KM 529/Dav-3085, KM 530/Dav-3086, KM 531/Dav-3087, KM 532/Dav-3083, KM 533/Dav-3084 and KM 534/Dav-3087A. This one was struck 1624-26 and is slightly better.
