Sincona sale 90, lot 1580

This specimen was lot 1580 in Sincona sale 90 (Zürich, May 2024), where it sold for 2,000 CHF (about US$2,643 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"RDR / ÖSTERREICH, Erzherzog Leopold V. 1619-1632. 1/2 Taler 1623, Hall. Sehr selten. Vorzüglich. Hübsche Patina. (Holy Roman Empire, archduke Leopold V, 1619-32, half thaler of 1623, Hall mint. Very rare, Extremely fine, Attractively toned.)"

Of the several half thalers listed for Austria in 1623 (see also KM 446 and 447), this issue of 1620-24 is the most common.
