Künker sale 354, lot 5925

This specimen was lot 5925 in Künker sale 354 (Osnabrück, Germany, September 2021), where it sold for €1,700 (about US$2,366 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"WALDECK, GRAFSCHAFT, SEIT 1713 FÜRSTENTUM, Georg Heinrich, 1813-1845. Vereinsdoppeltaler 1842. Vorzüglich. (Germany, principality of Waldeck, George Henry, 1813-45, double union thaler of 1842. Extremely fine.)"

This type was struck 1842 and 1845, probably at Berlin. Waldeck surrendered its sovereignty to Prussia in 1867.

Recorded mintage: 4,500.
