This specimen was lot 2043 in Sincona sale 43 (Zürich, October 2017), where it sold for 450 CHF (about US$537 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"Bayern, Ludwig I. 1825-1848 Doppelter Vereinstaler 1843. München Auf die Gründung der Hochschule in Erlangen. Vorzüglich-FDC. Hübsche Patina. (kingdom of Bavaria, Louis I, 1825-48, 1825-48, double union thaler of 1843, Munich mint. On the founding of the high school in Erlangen. Extremely fine-uncirculated, Attractive patina.)"
This commemorative, one of many issued during the reign, is scarce but not rare.
