This specimen was lot 33820 in Heritage sale 3082 (New York, January 2020), where it sold for $1,800. The catalog description[1] noted, "German States: Bavaria. Ludwig I "Feldherrnhalle" 2 Taler 1844 MS63 Prooflike PCGS. Struck to commemorate the completion of the Feldherrnhalle in Munich. Handsomely frosted over Ludwig's bust with a sharp contrast achieved against the enveloping mirrored fields, delicately speckled with minute and alluring flow lines." This commemorative, one of many issued during the reign, is scarce but not rare.
