Kunker sale 263, part of lot 963

This specimen was lot 963 in Künker sale 263 (Osnabrück, June 2015), where it sold for €700 (about US$904 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"HOHENZOLLERN-SIGMARINGEN, FÜRSTENTUM Carl, 1831-1848. Vereinsdoppeltaler 1843. Winz. Kratzer, sehr schön-vorzüglich. (Germany, principality of Hohenzollern-Sigmaringen, Charles, 1831-48, double union thaler of 1843. Minor scratches, very fine to extremely fine.)"

This type of 1841-43 is among the final issues of this principality. The prince abdicated in favor of Prussia in 1849.
