Waldeck-Pyrmont 1847-A 2 thaler Dav-927
This specimen was lot 1408 in Künker sale 263 (Osnabrück, June 2015), where it sold for €3,400 (about US$4,392 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"Waldeck, FÜRSTENTUM Georg Victor, unter Vormundschaft seiner Mutter Emma, 1845-1852. Vereinsdoppeltaler 1847. R Prachtexemplar. Vorzüglich-Stempelglanz. (Germany, principality of Waldeck, George Victor, under the regency of his mother, 1848-52, double union thaler of 1847. Scarce, proof, extremely fine to uncirculated.)"
This rare type was issued while the prince was a minor, hence his bust does not appear. Waldeck surrendered its sovereignty to Prussia in 1867.
