Sincona sale 9, lot 3707

This specimen was lot 3707 in Sincona sale 9 (Zürich, October 2012), where it sold for 400 CHF (about US$506 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"DEUTSCHLAND Bayern, Königreich Ludwig I. 1825-1848. Doppelter Vereinstaler 1847. Standbild des Fürstbischofs Julius Echter von Mespelbrunn. Kl. Kr. Vorzüglich. (Kingdom of Bavaria, Louis I, 1825-48, double union thaler of 1847, on the unveiling of the statue of the first bishop, Julius Echter von Mespelbrunn. Light hairlines, extremely fine.)"

This type noted the erection of a statue of the first bishop.
