This specimen was lot 46011 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Chicago, August 2024), where it sold for $168. The catalog description[1] noted, "GERMANY. Bavaria. 2 Gulden, 1847. Ludwig I. NGC AU-58." Double gulden were struck along with gulden and half gulden in parallel with the thaler series. Two thaler = 3½ gulden. This type was struck 1845-48 and is common. The double gulden was last struck in 1856.
