This specimen was lot 31691 in Heritage sale 3064 (Chicago, April 2018), where it sold for $2,100. The catalog description[1] noted, "Spain. Philip II gold Cob 2 Escudos ND (1570-89) T-M MS63 NGC, Toledo mint. Assayer's initial M to the left above T. Lustrous with a bold mintmark and assayer, the reverse cross near flawless, centrally and crisply struck. An attractive offering from this popular gold issue." This issue comes with the M over the T (shown here) or with the T over the M (Cayón-4105). Later two escudos from Toledo show the escutcheon of Portugal.
