This specimen was lot 25145 in Heritage sale 3016 (Orlando, FL, January 2012), where it sold for $1,495. The catalog description[1] noted, "Felipe II gold 2 Escudos 1590S-D, AU53 NGC, nicely centered with readable date and bold mintmark, denomination and assayer." The 1590's were a period of transition at the Spanish mints as milling machinery was introduced. This specimen is of the older cob style.

Specification: 6.77 g, 0.917 fine gold.
