This specimen was lot 70249 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice sale (Santa Ana, CA, May 2020), where it sold for $45. The catalog description[1] noted, "MEXICO. 5 Centavos, 1898-Mo M. Mexico City Mint. NGC MS-62. With toning that verges upon slate gray and cobalt, this near choice specimen is rather difficult to encounter any finer. A few areas of minor striking weakness, but highly attractive nonetheless." Shown is an 1898-MoM five centavos, of a type struck at the Mexico City mint 1898-1905. This issue is fairly common, even in nice condition. It features the redesigned eagle introduced on all the silver denominations in 1898. Other mints include Culiacan, Guanajuato and Zacatecas; the other branch mints having closed.

Specification: 1.35 g, 0.903 fine silver, .039 troy oz ASW.
