Stack's Bowers 2025 NYINC sale, lot 39294

This specimen was lot 39294 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2025), where it sold for $125. The catalog description[1] noted, "MEXICO. Peso, 1898-Cn AM. Culiacan Mint. PCGS AU-58." This type was struck at Culiacan 1898-1905 and this is a common date. A scarce repunched mintmark, Cn/Mo, is noted for the year. Culiacan and Zacatecas were the last branch mints to close, in 1905.

Recorded mintage: 1,720,000.

Specification: 27.07 g, 0.903 fine silver, 39 mm diameter.
