This specimen was lot 74755 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, February 2022), where it sold for $100. The catalog description[1] noted, "MEXICO. Peso, 1899-Cn JQ. Culiacan Mint. PCGS AU-53. This handsome example of a popular type displays a vibrant luster, and occasional touches of golden toning." This type was struck at Culiacan 1898-1905 and assayers JQ and AM are recorded for the year.

Recorded mintage: 1,722,000 including assayer AM.

Specification: 27.07 g, 0.903 fine silver, .786 troy oz ASW.
