This specimen is a common date of a series struck 1898-1905 at the Mexico City mint. This ten centavos piece replaced the upright eagle type issued 1869-97. The regime began closing the branch mints in 1893 and by 1898, only Guanajuato, Culiacan and Zacatecas were left.
Specification: 2.707 g, 0.903 fine silver, 18 mm diameter, .078 troy oz ASW, reeded edge.
