This specimen was lot 71336 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, October 2025), where it sold for $528. The catalog description[1] noted, "MEXICO. 10 Centavos, 1898-Go R. Guanajuato Mint. NGC MS-65+. Restyled eagle. Finest of four graded by NGC. First year of type. From the Kirk Menczer Collection of Republican Decimal Minors." The Guanajuato mint struck this ten centavos with this design 1898-1900. It is a redesign of the ten centavos piece struck 1869-97; only the eagle was changed. All dates are common. The bronze one centavo and silver five and twenty centavos were similarly modified. The eight reales was dropped in favor of a silver peso with this eagle. The regime began closing the branch mints in 1893 and by 1898, only Guanajuato, Culiacan and Zacatecas were left.

Recorded mintage: 435,000, a common date.

Specification: 2.70 g, 0.903 fine silver, 18 mm diameter, reeded edge.
