The first specimen was lot 2800 in Ponterio sale 164 (New York, January 2012), where it sold for $632.50. The catalog description[1] noted, "MEXICO. Mexico City. 8 Reales, 1894-MoAM. Beautiful iridescent toning. NGC MS-65." The second specimen was lot 11227 in Ponterio sale 169 (Baltimore, November 2012), where it sold for $421. The catalog description[2] noted, "MEXICO. Mexico City. 8 Reales, 1894-MoAM. NGC MS-64. Well struck, lustrous, toned." This date is common. The Mexico City mint issued this type 1824-97 and most dates are readily available.

Recorded mintage: 12,394,000.

Specification: 27.07 g, 0.903 fine silver, .786 troy oz ASW.
