This specimen was lot 6966 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2017), where it sold for $705. The catalog description[1] noted, "MEXICO. 8 Reales, 1894-DoND. PCGS MS-65 Secure Holder. Tied with just one other example for finest certified at PCGS and NGC. A brilliant central design with peripheral multi-hued toning." The Durango mint struck eight reales 1812-95 and is one of the abundant mints for that denomination; this late date is common in all grades.
