Mexico 1894-Cn M 5 centavos

The Culiacan mint struck silver five centavos of the upright eagle style 1871-76 and 1886-97. Prior to that, there was a brief issue of "cap and ray" five centavos from Potosi and Mexico City in 1867-69. Altho the early dates are quite scarce, this one is fairly common despite the small mintage. Other mints include Hermosillo, Alamos, Durango, Mexico City, Chihuahua, Guanajuato, Guadalajara, Oaxaca, Zacatecas and Potosi. It, in turn, was replaced by a five centavos piece with a redesigned reverse in 1898.
