This specimen was lot 11195 in Ponterio sale 169 (Baltimore, November 2012), where it sold for $470. The catalog description[1] noted, "MEXICO. 8 Reales, 1894-CaMM. PCGS MS-64 Secure Holder. Well struck, lustrous and beautifully toned." The Chihuahua mint produced large quantities of eight reales 1831-95 and most later dates are readily available, including this one. Assayer MM is listed for 1880-95.

Recorded mintage: 2,642,000.

Specification: 27.07 g, 0.903 fine silver, .786 troy oz ASW.
