Heritage sale 3035, lot 31320
Mexico H3035-31320r.jpg

This specimen was lot 31320 in Heritage sale 3035 (Long Beach, September 2014), where it sold for $1,645. The catalog description[1] noted, "Republic gold 10 Pesos 1894/3 Zs-Z MS62 NGC, Zacatecas mint. An attractive coin, lustrous Uncirculated with much remaining mint bloom and scattered contact marks preventing it from reaching a higher numerical grade. The 4/3 overdate is apparently unlisted and scarcer than the plain date variety, which adds to the appeal of this example. From The FoxLair Collection." This specimen is one of a series struck at the Zacatecas mint 1871-95. Mintage figures are not a reliable indicator of rarity for this type due to the accidents of hoarding; many low mintage issues are readily available while other high mintage issues are very rare.

Recorded mintage: 2,501.

Specification: 16.92 g, 0.875 fine gold, .476 troy oz AGW.

Catalog reference: KM 413.9, Fr-138.
