Shown is a balance scale fifty centavos, of a type struck 1869-1895. This issue from Hermosillo is common for the mint tho priced double a common Guanajuato issue. Most of the mints suspended production of the fifty centavos after 1888. The only later issues are the 1892-Cn and the 1894-95 from Hermosillo. The first specimen was lot 9194 in Ponterio sale 159 (Baltimore, March 2011), where it sold for $517.50. The catalog description[1] noted, "MEXICO. Hermosillo. 50 Centavos, 1894-HoG. Rare mint in high grade. Sharply struck, light toning. NGC MS-62.”

Specification: 13.54 g, 0.903 fine silver, .393 troy oz ASW.

Recorded mintage: 59,000.
