Stack's Bowers 2025 NYINC sale, lot 39248

This specimen was lot 39248 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2025), where it sold for $168. The catalog description[1] noted, "MEXICO. 8 Reales, 1846-Zs OM. Zacatecas Mint. PCGS AU-50." The Zacatecas mint was opened in 1810 by the royalists during the war of independence and operated until it was closed in 1905 by the Porforiato regime. It was a major producer of silver and this date is common. Assayer OM is listed for 1830-55.
