Morton & Eden sale 104, lot 351

This specimen was lot 351 in Morton & Eden sale 104 (London, November 2019), where it sold for £100 (about US$155 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted, "Republic, 4 reales, Guadalajara mint, 1846 JG, centres slightly weak, good very fine." This is noted as one of the common dates for this mint, along with 1843-45.

Recorded mintage: unknown but fairly common.

Specification: 13.54 g, 0.903 fine silver, 0.3925 troy oz ASW.
