Stack's Bowers June 2026 World Premier Collectors Choice Auction, lot 72413

This specimen was lot 72413 in Stack's Bowers June 2026 World Premier Collectors Choice Auction (Costa Mesa, CA, June 2026), where it sold for $793. The catalog description^[1] noted, "MEXICO. Real, 1846/5-Pi AM. San Luis Potosi Mint. NGC MS-62. Only example graded by NGC. Very scarce date in rare condition. From the Kirk Menczer Collection of Republican Reales Minors." Of the fourteen mints of the Republic of Mexico, only Oaxaca and Real de Catorce did not strike this type. Unlike the half reales, which appear occasionally in gem condition, this denomination nearly always comes heavily circulated. One reales are recorded from San Luis Potosi for 1831, 1837-62. Altho this year is listed as common, no regular date is listed. Assayer AM (José Antonio Mucharraz) served 1843-49.

Recorded mintage: unknown but common for the mint.
