This specimen was lot 3772 in Stephen Album sale 38 (Santa Rosa, CA, September 2020), where it sold for $107.10. The catalog description[1] noted, "MEXICO: Republic, AR ½ real, 1838/7-Go, assayer PJ, bold overdate, with 7 showing clearly under 8, rainbow toned reverse, NGC graded MS62." The Guanaguato mint struck this denomination 1826-62 and 1867-68 and most dates are common. This date appears with some regularity in high grade.
