Goldberg sale 41, lot 4726

This specimen was lot 4726 in in Goldberg sale 41 (Beverly Hills, May 2007), where it sold for $5,750. The catalog description^[1] noted, "Mexico. 8 Escudos, 1838/7-Go PJ. Republic. Eagle with snake on cactus facing right. Reverse: Hand holding Liberty cap on pole in front of open book of constitution. This choice example with satiny luster and lovely old-time yellow-gold tone fits in the best of collections. NGC graded MS-64." This date is noted as common but like all eight escudos, rare in this quality.
