Ponterio sale 155, lot 6295

This specimen was lot 6295 in Ponterio sale 155 (Baltimore, November 2010), where it sold for $1,265. The catalog description^[1] noted, "MEXICO. Guadalajara. 8 Reales, 1838-JG. An absolutely stunning example. CHOICE BRILLIANT UNCIRCULATED." For 1838, the SCWC lists an 1838/7 overdate as well as the plain date. This date is quite scarce.
