The type was struck at Durango 1832-69, with assayer RM listed for 1832-48. This specimen was lot 8123 in Ponterio sale 159 (Baltimore, March 2011), where it sold for $3,450. The catalog description[1] noted, "MEXICO. Durango. 1/2 Real, 1837/4-DoRM. VERY RARE date and exceptional condition. NGC MS-64." The SCWC notes no regular date and 1837/1, 1837/4 and 1837/6 overdates but does not note them as particularly rare.

Specification: 1.69 g, 0.903 fine silver, .049 troy oz ASW.
