This specimen was lot 3274 in the Eliasberg sale, where it sold for $4,830. The catalog description[1] noted, "1837 PJ 4 escudos. Guanajuato mint. MS-63 (NGC). Types as above. Warm medium gold with light toning highlights, some prooflike reflectivity in the protected areas, a natural planchet flaw at rim below 3:00 relative to the obverse. A rare date, missing from Norweb and Gerber. From the John H. Clapp Collection; Clapp estate to Louis E. Eliasberg, Sr., 1942."

Long[2] notes this as a scarce date. This date is distinct for its horizontal lines on the left wing of the eagle.
