This specimen was lot 31393 in Heritage sale 3041 (Chicago, August 2015), where it sold for $517. The catalog description[1] noted, "Ferdinand VII gold 4 Escudos 1814 Mo-HJ AU Details (Removed from Jewelry) NGC, Mexico City mint. Removed from a ring mount with the usual jewelry surface quality, yet with little actual wear. An affordable example of this rare and underrated date, priced at E6,000 in Calico. From The Rudman Collection of Mexican Coins." This very scarce type was struck 1814-21 and is usually seen in VF-EF or lower. Jewelry damage is common.
