This specimen was lot 70179 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, November 2023), where it sold for $840. The catalog description[1] noted, "MEXICO. Guadalajara. War of Independence. 2 Reales, 1814-Ga MR. Ferdinand VII. PCGS VF-25. A nicely struck example of this royalist type, delivering a well-detailed bust of the Spanish king in distinctive style. Free from any damage or significant wear, its surfaces are pleasingly toned to a smoky charcoal gray." This type was struck at Guadalajara 1812-15 and 1821. The 1814 is the most common date. We also note half, one, four and eight reales from this mint for this year.
