This specimen was lot 3145 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2017), where it sold for $881.25. The catalog description[1] noted, "MEXICO. War of Independence. Real, 1814-DMZ. NGC VG-08. Draped, laureate bust. VERY RARE three year type. Typical crude manufacturing. Bold date, clear mintmark and assayers letters." The Durango mint was opened in 1811 to process local ore during the anarchy of the War of Independence. It struck one reales 1813-15 as well as half, two, four and eight reales.
