This specimen was lot 31394 in Heritage sale 3041 (Chicago, August 2015), where it sold for $763.75. The catalog description[1] noted, "Ferdinand VII gold 4 Escudos 1815 Mo-HJ XF Details (Rim Filing) NGC, Mexico City mint, A small test cut on the obverse at 6 o'clock defines the designation, yet a partially lustrous and well struck coin for the issue with limited actual wear and non-distracting handling marks. Also a rare and much underrated date, similarly priced at E6,000 in Calico. From The Rudman Collection of Mexican Coins." This very scarce type was struck 1814-21 and is usually seen in VF-EF or lower. Jewelry damage is common.
