This specimen was lot 31656 in Heritage sale 3029 (New York, January 2014), where it sold for $528.75. The catalog description[1] noted, "Ferdinand VII gold 1/2 Escudo 1815 Mo-JJ, AU55 NGC. A well-struck coin with luster in the legends and superior to most seen in the market." This type, struck 1814-20, is the only half escudo struck in Mexico in colonial times. The 1814 is by far the most frequently encountered date.

Specification: 1.69 g, 0.875 fine gold, .048 troy oz AGW; this specimen: 1.68 grams, 14.60 mm diameter.
