This specimen was lot 2333 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2017), where it sold for $3,525. The catalog description[1] noted, "CHINA. 50 Yuan, 1995. NGC PROOF-67 ULTRA CAMEO. Mintage of only 500 pieces. Da Yu series I. Free of tone, haze and fog." The Chinese government has, since the mid 1980's, produced a mind boggling array of bullion related collectibles. This NCLT honors emperor Da Yu. Wikipedia[1] notes: "Yu the Great (Chinese: 大禹; pinyin: Dà Yǔ, c. 2200 – 2101 BC) was a legendary ruler in ancient China famed for his introduction of flood control, inaugurating dynastic rule in China by founding the Xia Dynasty, and for his upright moral character."

Recorded mintage: 500 proofs.

Specification: 155.5 g, 0.999 fine silver, 5.00 troy oz ASW, 70 mm diameter.
