Stack's Bowers April 2021 Hong Kong sale, lot 51416

This specimen was lot 51416 in Stack's Bowers Hong Kong auction (Hong Kong, April 2021), where it sold for $1,800. The catalog description[1] noted, "CHINA. Bimetallic 25 Yuan, 1995. Unicorn Series. NGC PROOF-69 Ultra Cameo. A 1/4 Ounce Gold Core with 1/8 Ounce Silver Ring. Sharply struck with brilliant fields and frosted cameo devices. The outer ring displays lovely delicate rose hued tone adding a bit of character to this charming piece displaying the mythical unicorn, otherwise free of haze or fog." This NCLT is the second in another long-running series of commemoratives in addition to the panda and Chinese zodiac programs already in progress. Bimetallics were abandoned soon after this issue.

Specification: 7.78 g, gold/silver, 0.250 troy oz AGW plus 0.125 troy oz ASW.
