Stack's Bowers April 2021 Hong Kong sale, lot 54090

This specimen was lot 54090 in Stack's Bowers Hong Kong auction (Hong Kong, April 2021), where it sold for $840. The catalog description[1] noted, "CHINA. Gold 25 Yuan, 1996. Unicorn Series. NGC PROOF-69 Ultra Cameo. A brilliant and attractive Proof with hard mirrored fields and frosted cameo devices." Another NCLT issued in 1996 featured a unicorn's head on the reverse (KM 944).

Recorded mintage: 3,000.

Specification: 7.78 g, 0.999 fine gold, 0.250 troy oz AGW.
