Sincona sale 43, lot 3175

This specimen was lot 3175 in Sincona sale 43 (Zürich, October 2017), where it sold for 400 CHF (about US$477 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"CHINA | Volksrepublik, 25 Yuan 1996. Panda. Polierte Platte. FDC. Originalverschweisst. (People's Republic of China, twenty-five yuan of 1996, panda series, Choice Proof, In original plastic.)"

The Chinese government has, since the mid 1980's, produced a mind boggling array of bullion related collectibles. A complete set is thousands of types yet buyers clamor for more.

Recorded mintage: 8,000, a better date.

Specification: 7.78 g, 0.999 fine gold, .250 troy oz AGW.
