China 1996 10 yuan KM-900

from the Stack's Bowers 2020 Collector's Choice sale, lot 70356

This specimen was lot 70356 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Santa Ana, CA, February 2020), where it sold for $192. The catalog description^[1] noted, "CHINA. 10 Yuan, 1996. Panda Series. NGC PROOF-69 Ultra Cameo. A brilliant and attractive proof with hard mirrored fields and frosted cameo devices." For some reason, Chinese mint authorities decided to issue two different silver pandas in 1996; this one and KM 892.

Recorded mintage: 8,000.

Specification: 31.11 g, 0.999 fine silver, 39.8 mm diameter.
