This specimen was lot 2280 in Sincona sale 51 (Zürich, October 2018), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted,
"50 Yuan 1995. Small date. Sehr selten. Nur ca. 450 Exemplare geprägt. Polierte Platte. FDC. In Originalplastik. (China, fifty yuan of 1995, small date. Very rare. Only approx. 450 pieces struck, Choice Proof, In original plastic.)"
The SCWC does not mention proofs for this date. Subsequent programs added silver and platinum pandas in varying sizes from one gram up to 4.85 kilo.
Recorded mintage: 11,749.
Specification: 15.55 g, 0.999 fine gold, 27 mm diameter, this specimen 15.56 g.
