This specimen was lot 1711 in Goldberg sale 112 (Los Angeles, September 2019), where it sold for $92. The catalog description[1] noted, "China. 5 Yuan, 1995. Panda. PCGS graded MS-68." The Chinese government has, since the mid 1980's, produced a mind boggling array of bullion related collectibles. A complete set is thousands of types yet buyers clamor for more. The first gold panda was issued in 1983 and quickly became an annual release. The 1987 issue was the first that weighed a full troy ounce.

Recorded mintage: 97,210 proofs.

Specification: 1.56 g, 0.999 fine gold, 0.050 ounce AGW.
