China 1995 100 yuan KM-719

Sincona sale 54, lot 150

This specimen was lot 150 in Sincona sale 54 (Zürich, May 2019), where it sold for 2,600 CHF (about US$3,094 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"100 Yuan 1995. Panda. Polierte Platte. FDC. In Originalverschweissung. (China, gold one hundred yuan of 1995, panda. Choice Proof, In original welding.)"

There is also KM 726 with a different panda. The Chinese government has, since the mid 1980's, produced a mind boggling array of bullion related collectibles. A complete set is thousands of types yet buyers clamor for more.

Recorded mintage: 17,412, very scarce date.
