Künker sale 386, lot 5068

This specimen was lot 5068 in Künker sale 386 (Osnabrück, March 2023), where it sold for €550 (about US$711 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"BRAUNSCHWEIG-WOLFENBÜTTEL, FÜRSTENTUM, Karl I. 1735-1780. Reichstaler 1737, Zellerfeld. Hübsche Patina, fast vorzüglich. (duchy of Brunswick-Wolfenbuttel, Charles I, 1735-80, thaler of 1737. Handsome patina, about extremely fine.)"

This thaler was struck 1735-50, 1755, 1758-53 and 1775 and is quite scarce but is more available than the accompanying thaler with the leaping stallion reverse (Dav-2146).
