This specimen was lot 30653 in Heritage sale 3035 (Long Beach, September 2014), where it sold for $708.53. The catalog description[1] noted, "Bavaria. Ludwig I 2 Taler 1840 MS62 PCGS, KM805. Broad and gorgeous with medium-gray patination that glows with reds and yellows upon rotation. A choice mint-state example of this three-year type." This type of 1839-41, like most Bavarian double thalers, is somewhat scarce.

Specification: 37.12 g, 0.900 fine silver, 1.074 troy oz ASW.
